We take a brief time-out from our usual topics of momentous import to note that the Hubble Telescope is back in business after its billion-dollar repair last spring. This is the first image (of Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 6217, in case you're wondering) recorded by its refurbished Advanced Camera for Surveys. More jaw-dropping imagery here. Which reminds me to also tout the wonderful website Astronomy Picture of the Day, which I used to link to often, and which also features a fantastic Hubble photo today, of the "Butterfly" Nebula NGC 6302.
